People from all walks of life and skill levels use our shop to fix their bikes and sometimes that can be a challenge so patience and a good attitude are mandatory attributes for this job. RBP Volunteer Correspondent
Tim Healion Spotlight Interview July 28, 2011
In the middle of a hectic day of organizing Sunday’s Tour De Nez 2011Race Organizer Tim Healion took a few minutes to talk with RBP correspondent Austin Wallis about the biggest, baddest, bike race of the year, motorcycles and Amy Winehouse.
Q: Hey Tim, so you’re 100 meters away from the finish line, what’s going through your head?!
A: Well, if I was racing in this upcoming race I’d be thinking about how I’m sprinting against the Goldsprints racers at the finish line. The pressure’s on. But really, I’m usually thinking, “This is fast!”
Q: What’s your favorite pump up jam to listen to before a race?
A: Easy, Duke Ellington’s In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Q: We’ve been wondering this for a while, Tim, why does Bubba Melcher wear so many bracelets?
A: His mom thinks he’s too skinny so he weighs himself down with all that jewelry.
Q: What’s your favorite IPA?
A: I’d have to go with Great Basin’s Ichthyosaurus IPA. It’s a great beer and I like to support local breweries.
Q: So, Tim, I’m sure you’ve heard about the tragic death of rock-blues superstar Amy Winehouse. How did her death effect your preparation for the Tour de Nez?
A: Well, actually we’re canceling the race. Just kidding, who’s Amy Winehouse? Is she a local newscaster or something? Big freakin’ deal.
Q: When is steel going to come back, Tim?
A: Steel doesn’t need to come back because it never left. Right now while we’re talking I’m wearing a hands free headset riding my steel bike. Steel is real, it’s never going away.
Q: What’s the best motorcycle in all the land?
A: 1978 Ducati 900 Super Sport.
