Board of Directors

Dan Ruby – Board President – The co-host of Dan’s Night, Director of Fleischmann Planetarium, and father to two budding cycling enthusiasts, Dan Ruby is one busy guy! A longtime supporter of the Reno Bike Project, we are lucky to have Dan Ruby at the helm of the Board.

 

Shawn Pearson – Board Secretary – Shawn Pearson’s passion for bicycles began with BMX in grade school, progressed to mountain bikes while working at a bike shop in college, and later moved to masters road racing as a “grown up.”  Now retired from racing, Shawn balances cycling and a busy family schedule by commuting to his Reno law office by bicycle several days a week.

 

Chester Burton – Board Treasurer - Chet brings over 25 years of finance, accounting and operations management experience to Reno Bike Project. He spent 20 years in the Navy, where he earned the rank of Commander as a supply officer, before moving to the private sector. He has served as CFO and Controller for a number of large corporations including IGT. Chet is currently the Finance Director for Unwired Planet in Reno, NV. Chet is also an avid cyclist who has been riding for over 40 years including touring, racing and mountain biking.

 

Dan Gopen – Dan brings a history of service to RBP including serving as a trustee for the Willensky Foundation and a board member for Sky Tavern.

 

Scott Hall – A Reno native Scott attended college at Stanford University studying Human Biology. After graduating he spent two years in Guinea, West Africa with the Peace Corps working on community development and public health. Upon returning to Reno Scott continued his studies at UNR earning a Masters in Public Health. These days Scott spends his time raising his two kids, volunteering at Reno Bike Project and other community organizations.

 

Chad Strand – As co-owner of Bootleg Courier, no one knows the ins and out of bicycle commuting better than Chad.  His previous experience as a bicycle messenger in Seattle, in addition to his experience as a bicycle related business owner, makes him a natural fit for the board.

 

Jim Kilgore- As Executive Vice President of United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada and a daily bicycle commuter, Jim brings a wealth of knowledge to board.  Jim is a busy father of two however, we can always count on him to attend events and support our advocacy efforts.

 

Catrina Peters – After volunteering for the community bike program at Burning Man for two years, Catrina was eager to get involved with a local community bike program.  She uses the skills she learned while earning a Master’s degree in Foods and Nutrition from Purdue University to also serve as our volunteer grant writer.
